Are you more of a prescriptivist or descriptivist (linguistic context)?

I'm not a linguistic student or professor so my answer here might not be correct in definition.

I'm using this video for my understanding of the terms so if there's any incorrect informations you will know where I get it from.

For my English learning journey, I think prescriptivism is how I approach the language. I study it in a classroom, and especially in Vietnamese classroom they will usually push you to a certain type of English.

My journey mostly comprised of "that's not how the natives use it." or "this is not the correct way." Basically making a bunch of mistakes and let the knowers around me molding the way.

This is not really the same for my Vietnamese learning journey. In fact I never really know what count as a complete and correct Vietnamese sentence is and just know it from the sound and look of it whether it is missing or natural.
